Our Priorities

As a first-generation college graduate, I recognize the importance of fully-funded K-12 public schools. I will continue to support our children, teachers, and each of our neighborhood schools.

As a first-generation college graduate, I recognize the importance of fully-funded K-12 public schools. I will continue to support our children, teachers, and each of our neighborhood schools.
Three top education priorities include:
1. Advocating for Our Students
Our youth today are our next generation of leaders. From Pre-K to Higher Ed, we need to focus on their well-being and growth while creating greater educational opportunities for them to succeed and have flourishing careers in Arizona.
2. Supporting Our Teachers
Investing in our teachers is not only a matter of fiscal policy; it is essential to the future success of our state. We need to retain our talented educators and demonstrate our commitment to education by keeping dollars in the classroom with each state budget.
3. Fully-Funding Our K-12 Public Schools
Nationally, Arizona remains 48th out of 50 in per pupil funding, and our current and future economy depends on a more robust and educated workforce. We need to properly invest in our schools in order to meet the needs of our growing state.
All workers deserve a living wage, paid sick leave, and safe working conditions. I will work to expand and protect the right to collectively bargain without intimidation or harassment across our state.

Jobs & Workforce Development
All workers deserve a living wage, paid sick leave, and safe working conditions. I will work to expand and protect the right to collectively bargain without intimidation or harassment across our state.
Three top labor and workforce priorities include:
1. Occupational Work Licenses
In 2022, I introduced HB 2796 and championed legislation that would expand occupational work licenses for Arizona's diverse immigrant community looking to apply their education and preparation to meet our state's labor needs.
2. Union-Led Working Improvements
As the son of an AFSCME 2960 Chief Union Steward and the grandson of two union members, I will continue to advocate for a living wage, paid sick leave, and safe working conditions for all workers across our state.
3. Protecting Workers' Rights
Arizona can create a thriving workforce and promote job satisfaction, which is essential for a robust and thriving economy. I will work to expand and safeguard the right to collectively bargain without intimidation or harassment.
No one should be denied access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare based on their personal circumstances. I will work to expand access to public health resources across our community because we are collectively stronger when these barriers are removed.

No one should be denied access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare based on their personal circumstances. I will work to expand access to public health resources across our community because we are collectively stronger when these barriers are removed.
Three top healthcare priorities include:
1. Reducing Healthcare Costs
Living with Type 2 diabetes, I understand firsthand how prescription drug prices are out of control. I will continue to fight to lower these costs so that our community does not have to decide between buying prescriptions or groceries.
2. Making Healthcare More Accessible
Arizona families have diverse needs, especially when it comes to their healthcare. I will continue to work towards ensuring universal access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare, regardless of personal circumstances.
3. Creating a Healthier Arizona
Our long-term health outcomes should not be determined by our zip code. I support policies that address the social determinants of health as well as the needs of the whole person that encompasses their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
In 2021, average rents went up almost 30% in Phoenix and Maricopa County continues to be one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. I will work collaboratively on addressing rising costs of rent and Arizona's housing shortage in order for the cost of living to be more affordable for everyone.
Affordable Housing
Affordable Housing
In 2021, average rents went up almost 30% in Phoenix and Maricopa County continues to be one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. I will work collaboratively on addressing rising costs of rent and Arizona's housing shortage in order for the cost of living to be more affordable for everyone.
Three top housing priorities include:
1. Tackling Rising Rents
Over the past two years, average rents went up almost 30% in Phoenix. I support a holistic approach to addressing the rising cost of living in our state, and that begins with assisting renters who are trying to make ends meet.
2. Addressing Arizona’s Housing Shortage
With Maricopa County continuing to be one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S., it is a priority of mine to expand Arizona’s housing supply to meet the needs of our growing state. I will continue to work collaboratively to remove barriers to building more housing and support Arizonans achieve homeownership.
3. Sheltering Our Homeless Neighbors
There is perhaps no greater issue that I hear about in our district than to better support unsheltered individuals living on the streets, exacerbated during our extreme summers. In 2022, I introduced HB 2634 in order to generate more revenue for Arizona's Housing Trust Fund without increasing state taxes. We need to help seniors and families transition into permanent housing by expanding new emergency and transitional shelters statewide.
